Is killing right or wrong?

I think that killing is wrong because it’s like trying to play god when you take someone’s life alternatively it might sometimes be right. Killing isn’t good because you’re taking away someone’s life however it might be right to kill someone suffering.

Killing is not right

When you kill someone you take away their right as a human being to live, it usually leads to many people grieving and furthermore it might spark some revenge attempts or they might take their grief out on others thus making killing and hate an unrelenting cycle.

Life is precious, we all die in the end but everyone should have a fully happy life. No one should have the right to take a life and no one should have to face the sadness of losing someone close to him or her.

Some might say that murderers deserve a death sentence but that would bring you to the same level of the murderer. If you kill a murderer he/she won’t feel the grief of his/her victim’s family so it would be like letting him off for the crimes the murderer has committed. Sometimes killers might not be sane and should have been treated for their mental condition.

Although killing may not be right it may have slowed down the issue of overpopulation and it may also have stopped the killing of others.

Killing might sometimes be right

On the second paragraph I state that everyone should have a happy life and on the very first paragraph I say that it might be right to kill someone suffering. So I’m saying that if someone has an illness that is causing him/her great pain and would possibly lead to a slow and painful death shouldn’t the person have the right to be killed quickly instead of slow and painfully? The person would be in so much pain killing quickly would be merciful.

Killing might sometimes be right if you were trying to save someone from being killed by a person but you ended up killing the killer to do so.

In conclusion killing may be right but it depends on the situation.

 I have changed some simple connectives into different connectives. I have also added a conclusion. 

I have learned about extending sentences by adding connectives and I have also learned how to be more persuasive with my writing.

127 Hours

“127 Hours” is the amazing film the director of “slumdog millionaire” Danny Boyle got out of a painful tale.

 This is a great tribute to Aron Ralston who was the person who got stuck with his hand in a rock for 127 hours. With the use of camera angles and dramatic music the audience would feel that they were right there causing some to look away at the gruesome parts.

James Franco acts as Ralston making him look like a humorous and extremely sporty person. He works in a mountaineering equipment shop and on the weekends he goes adventuring.

On the day of his accident he meets up with some hikers (Kate Mara, Amber Tamblyn) and offers to show them the Blue John Canyon. The girls move on after a side trip to a pool of water somewhere in the canyons. He then runs up a hill and continues his trip.

He then falls and gets his hand stuck between a rock and the canyon side with nobody within miles of him. This shows a great contrast from the start of the film when it shows lots of people going about their daily lives.

When he is stuck he tries to move the rock by force with what adrenaline he has but fails. Soon he is shown as a self-reliant person and he takes out things from his pack that might help. None do much.

He records his experience with his camcorder as he tries to get himself out. He hallucinates and struggles to survive. He remembers his ex-girlfriend and he realizes that he’s stuck in this mess because he chose to be a lone wolf.

He’s skinny, starving and looks as if he wants us to help him. The director makes the audience feel sorry for Aron and makes them wonder how will he get out of this mess?

I would recommend this movie to Adventurers, extreme sports people, or just people who want to watch an unforgettable film. For a movie about a guy falling into a canyon it makes you wonder… what would you do to survive???

The first few minutes in 127 hours

In the beginning it shows people clapping, swimming and cheering which all include hands, in the movie the main character loses his hand when it gets stuck. There is a close up of a phone and when he gets stuck he could not contact anyone. He doesn't really take specific things and just rummages around grabbing random things and leaving useful things like extra water behind. When he leaves for the canyon there is a sign that says civilisation is 100 miles away and when he gets stuck there is nobody around. The shots that were used were high angle, birds eye view, close up, mid shot and mix shot. I think the movie uses a lot of connotations in it to make the audience try guessing what happens.

Trailer success criteria

1. The trailer should fit it's genre.

2. The trailer must hook the viewer in.

3. To have have lots of camera angles

English Reflection

These couple of weeks in english class we've drawn maps of an island; plotting different areas and making hazards so the story we make is interesting and exciting. We've learned how to keep a movie or story interesting if it only has one character by adding an object that the character could talk to like Wilson in the movie Castaway. I have improved my teamwork skills when my team and I discussed about what we should add on the island, creativity skills when I gave some ideas to what should be on the island and my summary writing when I made a summary of how I got to the island. I have learned how to write texts to suit a variety of different purposes.
